Four inductees are in the Class of 2020 Coahoma Community College Sports Hall of Fame.
They are Timothy Pollard, Jocelyn Frost, Willie Mae Lindsey and John Mayo.
Pollard led CCC basketball in scoring for his two seasons from 1985 to 1987. As a freshman, he averaged 22.5 points per game and 24 points per game as a sophomore. He was named to the Mississippi North All-Star Team and was also labeled the best 3-point shooter in the Mississippi Association Junior College.
Frost averaged 30 points, six assists and five rebounds per game for her two seasons from 1994 to 1996. She was a first-team All-American, who played as a forward and guard, and became a top athlete during her time at CCC. She earned the Most Valuable Player title,
Lindsey played for the Lady Tigers from 1995 to 1997. In addition to having success on the court, she excelled academically winning Holbrook Awards both of her years. She averaged 17 points and 13 rebounds per game as a freshman and 20.1 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks per game as a sophomore.
Mayo has reported on more than 1,200 football, basketball, baseball, softball and track events at CCC. He highlighted the accomplishments of athletes through thousands of photos and stories. He began his career at CCC as public relations and sports information director.
A native of Baltimore, Md., Mayo was raised in a military family. He lived in a number of states, Germany and Vietnam where he served as a platoon leader in the 15th Combat Engineer Battalion, 9th Infantry Division. He received four decorations for achievement, meritorious service and valor. He was also mayor of Clarksdale and a state representative.
