Aaron E. Henry Community Health Services Center, Inc. is proud to welcome a new pediatrician to its Clarksdale clinic staff.
Dr. Tavares Williams has recently joined the staff and looks forward to getting to know the citizens of the Clarksdale area and serving the children of the Delta region.
Dr. Williams received his Bachelor of Science from University of Memphis, his Doctor of Medicine from University of Tennessee at Memphis and did his pediatric residency at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Pensacola, Fla..
He has held various medical positions in Tennessee, Texas and Missouri and brings years of experience working with children of all ages.
“One of my goals is to address the epidemic of childhood obesity that is becoming the new norm in America,” said Williams. “I want to work hand in hand with parents and children to allow them to be a part of the improvement process. Change is hard, but it is attainable. I would also like to address the issue of school bullying by working to empower young people to become independent and know their self-worth.”
Dr. Williams is new to the state of Mississippi but looks forward to helping children and their loved ones receive the specialty care that they deserve, and have it delivered in a timely fashion.
Dr. Williams will also serve as medical director for the AEH Mississippi Children’s Health Project. The project is funded by The Children’s Health Fund, which was founded by pediatrician Dr. Irwin Redlener, Karen Redlener, and Paul Simon, the singer/songwriter.
AEH is a Federally Qualified Health Center with a 41-year mission to improve the health of people in the Mississippi Delta and Delta Hills communities by increasing access to comprehensive health care and supportive services, regardless of ability to pay. Currently serving six counties, with sites in Clarksdale, Batesville, Tunica, and Coldwater, AEH offers an array of services including medical, dentistry, optometry, and behavioral therapy.
“We are proud to welcome Dr. Williams to our medical staff where he is readily available to provide quality and timely pediatric care,” said Dr. Johnnie Cummings, Chief Medical Officer.
