The local chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is offering scholarships to local college students seeking to finish up there degree to become a professional educator.
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society Iota Chapter is a professional honorary society of key women educators: classroom teachers, college and university professors, administrators and supervisors, librarians and educational specialists.
“Our mission is to promote professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education,” said Barbara Boschert, a local educator and scholarship chairman for the local chapter. “One of the ways our chapter seeks to fulfill this mission is through our Grant-in-Aid program.”
Boschert said the qualifications are simple:
• Be a junior-level college student working on a degree in a field of
education.
• Have a strong desire to become a professional educator.
• Be a resident of Bolivar, Coahoma, Tallahatchie, Tunica, Quitman or
Sunflower county.
• Complete the Iota Chapter grant-in-aid application
The scholarship is a monetary award of $500 for one year of educational advancement and may be used by recipient as needed.
Applications can be obtained by contacting Boschert at 662-621-4677 must be returned via mail and postmarked by Monday, Oct. 21.
Recipients will be asked to attend the Nov. 2, meeting of the Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma at the St. Paul’s First United Methodist Church, Family Life Center, 405 East 2nd Street in Clarksdale.
