It’s summertime and burglaries – especially auto burglaries – are the crime of the season as crooks and juveniles look for easy opportunities to steal.
Police ask that you please lock your doors, park in lighted areas and anyone who sees someone suspicious lurking around vehicles to please call police and they will respond.
Residents are also reminded that while Clarksdale no longer has a blanket curfew, juveniles are not to be out from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. and parents or guardians or adults with them can be fined for curfew violation of youth in their care or in their car.
Clarksdale Assistant Chief Vince Ramirez has asked anyone with information about the following incidents to call the Clarksdale Police Department at 621-8156, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or simply dial 911. All calls remain anonymous and cash is paid to those providing information that leads to solving this crime.
Auto Burglary
Police responded to the 1200 block of North State Street at 1:50 a.m. Sunday in reference to an auto burglary.
Police spoke with Nigel Luster and he stated he was DJ’ing at the Turning Point Lounge, when he was told someone had broken a window out of his vehicle. Luster said his Gucci bag missing from the vehicle and it contained $2,000 in cash.
Police have developed a suspect in this case.
The case was assigned to Investigator T. Hawkins.
Residential Burglary
Police were called to the 600 block of Ritchie Street at 3:04 a.m. Friday in reference to a residential burglary.
Officers spoke with Yvonne Stringer, who told them she left her residence for about 30 minutes and discovered the burglary when she returned.
Stringer told police she was missing two televisions.

Auto Burglary
Clarksdale Police were called to the 400 block of School Street, in reference to an auto burglary at 8:56 a.m. Thursday.
Warren Mangle told police when he came out to get in his vehicle, he noticed his gun was missing from his vehicle. Mangle also said a cordless drill was taken.
Mangle told police he forgot to lock his doors on his vehicle.
The case was assigned to Investigator T Hawkins.
Auto Burglary
Police were called to the 1300 block of West Second Street in reference to an auto burglary.
Nakeidra Price told police when she went to her vehicle about 9 a.m. Wednesday, she noticed someone had ripped open the plastic she had on her window. Price told police she was missing a laptop computer, and a wifi card.
The case was assigned to Investigator M. Dawson.
