The Clarksdale Police Department is investigating two shootings over the weekend, one on Pecan Street and another at the Southern Inn, with three people injured in these incidents.
Clarksdale reported two men shot in the chest last weekend and reports of shots fired in Clarksdale are being called in routinely to police.
The first shooting was reported about 5 p.m. Friday with officers responding to a call from Marie Blake at 832 Pecan Street.
Police spoke with William Robinson, who told them that Joseph Pittman had been told he could not come to the residence anymore and that he could not see his child.
Pittman allegedly has a child by a woman that lives at the residence.
Robinson told police as Joseph was heading out the door he allegedly pulled a handgun and shot at him several times striking him in the upper thigh.
Robinson was transported to the Clarksdale Emergency Room where he was listed in stable condition.
The incident was deemed an aggravated assault and assigned to Investigator K. Walker.
The second shooting also occurred at 3:28 a.m. Saturday at the Southern Inn on North State Street.
In that incident officers responded to a call by hotel personnel that someone had been shot.
Officers responding found Taneshea Williams lying in front of the hotel window with a gunshot wound to the upper thigh.
Williams told police she was standing at the window to check in the hotel when a subject started shooting in her direction. Police also said there was also a male subject hit while sitting in his car and he attempted to drive himself to the ER.
Police said the male subject, who was not identified by police, apparently lost consciousness and hit the fence in front of the hospital.
Both the man and Williams were taken to the ER and the man was later flown by helicopter to Jackson.
The incident was deemed an aggravated assault and assigned to Investigator K. Walker.

All calls remain anonymous and cash is paid to those providing information that leads to solving this crime.
Police responded to the shooting of two men last weekend
Officers were called to the area of Eighth Street and Paul Edwards Street at 8:17 p.m. Friday June 19 on a report of shots fired.
Officers found Malcolm Curtis sitting in a chair with a gunshot wound to the chest and Frank Silas with a gunshot wound to the lower leg.
Both subjects were transported to Clarksdale’s emergency room and were later transported to Region One in Memphis where they are listed in stable condition.
Shots Fired Calls
The Clarksdale Police Department is making an effort to reduce the level of gun violence in Clarksdale and is responding immediately to call of shots fired.
The following calls were made to the department this weekend.
• 1700 block of Evans Street, nothing found.
• 300 block of Iowa Street, nothing found.
• 300 block of School Street, shell casings found in the street.
Residents are asked to call 911 immediately if they hear shots. Residents are also reminded it is against the law to discharge a firearm in the city limits and additional felony charges can be leveled if an investigation determines more serious charges are necessary
The Clarksdale Police Department is asking for the community's help in curtailing crime and urges residents to call police immediately if they are the victim of a crime.
