Shondrick Deonna Willingham earned the Coahoama County Board of Supervisor Scholarship and a  check for $500 this week.

The annual scholarship is provided by the Mississippi Association of Supervisors to the children of eligible county employee with Coahoma County getting one each year. This year the MAS County Employee Scholarship program awarded $33,000 in scholarships to dependents of current or retired county employees around the state.

“The MAS County Employee Scholarship program is one way that our Association can give back to the employees of our counties,” said Derrick Surrette, Executive Director of MAS. “We hope to have an even greater response to the program next year.”

Shondrick is from Dist. 3 Supervisor Derrell Washington’s District.

“I am so very proud of Shondrick and her accomplishments thus far,” said Washington. “I am also excited that the recipient of this scholarship is a native of my hometown. I feel that she is deserving of this scholarship and wish her much success in her endeavors.”

Willingham thanked those involved in this scholarship.

“I am exceeding grateful to God, the Mississippi Association of Supervisors and the Coahoma County Board of Supervisors for their generous award to me in the amount of $500,” said Willingham. “I am eternally thankful and hope to someday be able to help someone else as this organization has helped me.”
