Delta Council’s Future Delta event will be held Friday, September 23 in Stovall, in conjunction with the Mighty Roots Music Festival, as a way of gathering and recognizing the Delta’s future leaders who are involved in farming and allied agricultural issues.
"We are pleased to announce the meeting will feature Carley Esser, a professional staff member for the United States Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, who will join us to discuss the outlook for the 2023 Farm Bill," said Wade Litton, President of Delta Council.
Carley, a native of Boonville, MO, and a former staff member for Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler joined Senator Boozman’s committee staff a year ago and focuses on Title 1 Commodity Programs, Crop Insurance, and Disaster Assistance.
"The Mississippi Delta is fortunate to have producer leadership at the national level and three of these leaders – Curtis Berry of Tunica who serves as Chairman of the USA Rice Farmers, Patrick Johnson of Tunica who serves as Chairman of the National Cotton Council American Cotton Producers Farm Policy Task Force and Kirk Satterfield of Benoit who serves as Chairman of the USA Rice Federation Board of Directors – will join Carley in a roundtable discussion related to the Farm Bill," said Litton.
Carley is an integral player on Senator Boozman and Fitz Elder’s team at the Senate Ag Committee and we are grateful to have her insight and knowledge in the Delta.
"While the event is geared toward 'younger people,' we know a lot of people involved in agriculture and interested in these critical subjects would also like to join us and participate," continued Litton. "We encourage you to do that, and also let us know if there are others on your staff, your operation, or your circle that we should make a special point to reach out to."
