Some of the most interesting things you will ever see come from the most unlikely places. Recently I was sitting in my vehicle outside a rather large mall and noticed a car wash across the street.
People had lined their cars one behind the other in order waiting to have them cleaned by the workers of the car wash.
These people were working hard. They sprayed water all over the car then took their brushes and hand cloths that were coated with soap, and went over every inch of the vehicle. After the vehicle was covered with soap the workers sprayed water over the car again to wash away the dirt and grime that had built up on the outside of the car.
The vehicles were thoroughly cleaned inside and out.
I often wonder why we as a person don’t clean ourselves as often as we clean our automobiles. We spend a lot of money and time on cleaning our prideful material possessions but sometimes forget to cleanse our own spiritual life.
Yes I realize we take baths or showers and clean up the outside of our body but how many of us go to the Lord each and every day for spiritual healing and cleaning?
How many of us really take the time to talk with the Lord and ask His opinion on what we should do in every situation. How many of us ask the Lord to guide us in all that we do? How many of us ask the Lord to forgive us for our sins and prideful ways? Do we take the time to spend with the Lord through prayer and by reading His Word?
Psalm 51:10 tells us, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Cleansing ourselves is simple if we know Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. He tells us we can come to Him at any time day or night and He will hear our prayers.
We as worldly people worry about our physical appearance and our material possessions. We spend untold amount of money on upkeep and within a few minutes or days our cleaned possessions are dirty again. Our spiritual upkeep comes any time we talk with the Lord, confess our sins, and ask for forgiveness. When we have our spiritual life in order we don’t worry about our worldly desires and needs because there is no need to impress anyone. No one or nothing that this world can promise doesn’t match the eternal life that only Jesus can give us.
