The Clarksdale Police Department is asking the community help find the person or persons responsible for gunfire that hit a 13-year-old girl Friday night.
The city has seen a number of homes fired into over the past few months and is urging neighborhoods to come forward with information about these acts of violence and hurt people indiscriminately.
Officers responded to the 100 block of Douglas Street in reference to a shooting shortly before 10 p.m. Friday.
Upon investigation, police determined unknown subject(s) fired numerous shots into the residence striking a thirteen-year-old who was sleeping in the bed.
The child was transported to the local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
No other injuries were reported in this incident.
This is not the first time this type of shooting has occurred in the community and a shooting in the 100 block of Douglas Street less than three weeks ago also saw a female shot.
It is not known if these incidents are gang related.
The Clarksdale Police Department made an arrest after a home was shot into striking an occupant last weekend.
Officers responded to the 700 block of Lynn Street in reference to a shooting and determined the home had been fired upon and a bullet hit the homeowner in the foot.
Acting swiftly, police made a traffic stop and made an arrest.
Joseph McClenton, 26, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
McClenton was transported to the Coahoma County Justice Center pending an initial arraignment.
Earlier this month Police reported several incidents where someone shot into a home and while no arrests have been made or suspect named, police are again looking for the community’s help in solving these crimes.
In one of these incidents a woman was hit by gunfire and it has been deemed an aggravated assault if an arrest is made. Police did not say if these incidents were gang related.

Police did not give the extent of her injuries.
Officers responded to the 300 block of Jefferson Street in reference to shots fired. Upon investigating the incident, officers discovered the residence was fired into numerous times. No injuries were reported in this shooting.
Officers responded to the 900 block of West Haven Circle in reference to shots fired. Upon investigating the incident, officers discovered the residence was fired into numerous times.
The resident was not home at the time of the shooting. No injuries reported.
Police did not give a motive for these shootings, if they were related, if shell casings were recovered or a description of the shooter or their vehicle.
Neighbors are urged to contact police if they saw someone committing these crimes.
Shooting into a home is a serious offense and anyone who shoots into any house or any other building usually occupied by persons, whether actually occupied or not is guilty of a felony whether or not anybody is injured.
Upon conviction they will be punished by imprisonment in the state penitentiary for a term not to exceed ten years, or by imprisonment in the county jail, fined up to $5,000, forced to pay restitution for damages, all within the discretion of the court.
