The loose change in your car can help a kid go to college.
Scholarship funds will be raised by the men of Epsilon Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity during a bucket drive Saturday, Dec. 12.
Cash will be solicited at the corner of DeSoto and MLK Street from 9 a.m. until noon.
The fraternity will approach vehicles traveling through the area seeking change, folding money and even checks that will be deposited in a special account that will help send a deserving kid to college.
Epsilon Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha has received special permission for the fundraising drive from the Clarksdale Board of Mayor and Commissioners who approved the fundraiser at their vetting meeting Thursday.
Clarksdale has an ordinance that prohibits soliciting, panhandling, begging and creating a traffic hazard without the specific approval of the city.
