Clarksdale is known at the home of the Blues, but the community appreciates all types of music.
The Take Five Jazz Club will host the innaugural Yazoo Avenue Jazz Festival from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at the corner of Yazoo and Second Street in downtown Clarksdale.
“We’ve got three groups lined up and two have played at Yazoo Pass,” said event organizer Jack Bobo.
“We’re going to block off the street and set up chairs and are just urging people to come downtown and enjoy the music.”
Admission is free and food and drinks will be available. Coolers will not be allowed.
Set to play are the Oxford Jazz Trio, John Shaw’s Magnolia Triangle and the Ole Miss Jazz Combo.
“It’s just something different and part of our desire to have live music in Clarkdale every night,” said Bobo. “This should be a lot of fun and we hope to do more events like this."
