Tougaloo College/ Delta HealthPartners Healthy Start Initiative will host Safety Seat Saturday in Clarksdale as part of Child Passenger Safety Week.
Certified child safety technicians will be offering free car seat safety checks and education to parents starting at 10 a.m. on the parking lot of Walmart in Clarksdale.
There will be instruction on how to install and use car seats correctly and if you have the right seat for your child’s age and size.
Every 32-seconds a child under the age of 13 is involved in a passenger vehicle crash. Using age and size-appropriate car seats and installing them correctly is the best ways to reduce injury.
More than one-third of children 12 and younger who died in crashes in 2017 while riding in cars, pickups, vans, and SUVs were unbuckled. Mississippi law requires anyone riding in a vehicle to wear a safety belt and small children must be properly secured in an approved safety seat.
