The musical acts have been announced for the 35th annual Delta Jubilee, which will be held Friday and Saturday, June 1-2, at the Coahoma County Expo Center in Clarksdale.
Michael Jacobs will be performing Saturday, June 2 at 5 p.m. while The Bouffants will perform at 7 p.m. that same day.
Jacobs is an award-winning singer/songwriter from Nashville, Tenn. His songs feature a mixture of roots rock and folk. He started his solo career in 2002, with the release of the acclaimed CD, “Sacred Nation.” Six more critically and commercially successful CDs followed.
To date, Michael's performed at over 250 colleges and universities in 45 states, besides numerous libraries, museums, festivals, fairs, house concerts, prisons and jails across the U.S. and Canada. His music's also been featured in numerous documentaries and video presentations - both commercial and promotional - and used by other groups in their live shows.
The Bouffants are a known party band from Memphis, Tenn. From Minneapolis to New Orleans, Chicago to Atlanta, The Bouffants have thrilled audiences with classic songs from groups like The Jackson Five, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, and Sly & the Family Stone. They feature classic hits from Motown and Stax, to rock and roll, and current favorites.
There are several other events planned for the jubilee. A carnival will run Thursday-Saturday, May 30-June 2, and there will be a petting zoo and pony rides. There will be a step show, talent show, motorcycle show and arts and crafts, as well as a number of other events.
General admission is $3 and children under 5 years of age will be admitted free.
