In spite of two losses last week, the Clarksdale High School girls basketball team is still in second place in its division and on pace to have the first day of the district tournament off.
The district tournament will be at Gentry High School in Indianola.
The Lady Wildcats (12-8, 3-2) lost at home to first-place Gentry, 60-53, and at Coahoma County, 43-33, on Wednesday, Jan. 23.
Patrice Broomfield led the Lady Wildcats with 33 points in the loss to Gentry.
Amyah Fizer led the Lady Wildcats with 11 points in the loss at Coahoma County.
The Wildcats (6-15, 1-4) dropped three games last week with a 53-48 home loss against district opponent Gentry from Indianola, a 60-48 loss at Coahoma County and a 34-19 loss at Yazoo City.
Markevious Jackson, Chris Allen and Josh Hollins scored 12 points against Coahoma County. Jackson connected on two 3-pointers while Hollins hit one.
In the loss to Gentry, Devonte Halbert had 14 points, Markevious Jackson had 13 and Allen scored 11.
Clarksdale hosts Coahoma County on Thursday night, division opponent Yazoo City on Friday and Coahoma Early College High School on Thursday, Feb. 7.
Tipoff for the girls games will be at 6 p.m. with the boys immediately following.
