The Coahoma County High School boys and girls both won their district championships and earned a bye in the district tournament at O’Bannon.
Both teams are guaranteed playoff spots.
The Red Panthers are coming off of back-to-back Class 2A state championships, while the Lady Red Panthers were in the state semifinals last season.
The Red Panthers, 24-2 on the season, will play South Delta at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
The boys won the regular-season finale at Riverside 65-50 to go undefeated in district play.
Keshun Holly finished with 17 points, while Tarkevious Logan had 13.
The Lady Red Panthers, 23-3 on the season, will open the district tournament at 7 p.m. Thursday against West Bolivar.
The Lady Red Panthers won at Riverside on Friday, 48-42.
Nakia Cheatham led the way with 25 points.
Their only regular-season district loss came at home against Leland. The CCHS girls won at Leland and earned the district championship thanks to a points tiebreaker.
The third-place games and championships for the district tournament will be on Friday night.
The opponent and tipoff times will depend on how teams fare Thursday night.
The playoffs are scheduled to begin next week.
