Charter school students return to classroom

Clarksdale Collegiate Public Charter School will added a hybrid model of learning this week that will put kids back in the classroom.
Executive director Amanda Johnson discussed the hybrid model plan during the Monday, Oct. 26 board meeting. The school had gone to a virtual model of learning ever since the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Undefeated Lee Junior High named District Champs

Lee Academy’s junior high football program has won back-to-back district championship, but the 2020 team topped the performance of 2019.
The Colts went undefeated in 2020 after losing one game in 2019. That loss in 2019 was at Magnolia Heights School.

Lee falls in first round of playoffs

Lee Academy’s successful season came to an end in the first round of the Class 4A MAIS playoffs with a 35-6 loss at Brookhaven Academy Friday.
Senior lineman Andrew Williamson had a neck problem that prevented him from playing.

Hambone Festival fills Clarksdale with music

Most of the annual festivals in Clarksdale have been virtual since the COVID pandemic began in March.
Stan Street attempted to change that by having his 13th annual Hambone Festival in person last Thursday to Sunday. It is the weekend of Halloween, right around Street’s birthday, every year.
