Lee Academy’s junior high school football team was recently recognized for winning its second consecutive district championship.
The Colts received a district championship trophy during a home basketball game. The team came to midcourt to accept the trophy.
The 2020 district championship team was undefeated, while the 2019 team lost just one game.
The one loss in 2019 came at the hands of Magnolia Heights School. Lee defeated Magnolia Heights in 2020.
Head of school Rone Walker provided remarks during the presentation.
“We are so proud of these young men and their hard work and dedication they put into the football program,” Walker said. “Special thanks tonight to the football coaches.”
Walker mentioned the coaches in the football program by name. Chad Foster is the junior high football coach and offensive coordinator at the high school level. Rick Johnston is the high school coach and athletic director. Shon Valvano Brad Foster, Kris Harbin and Bobby Eavenson are the other coaches.
Lance Shepard was recognized for being the videographer.
“Thank you to the strength of the young men for the time they put in throughout this program and for all they’ve done,” Walker said. “We look forward to many more fun seasons of football. Congratulations to the 2020 junior high football team.”
