A shooting has claimed the life of a juvenile female in Newton on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Dec. 23, 2024.
Newton Police Chief Randy Patrick, leading the investigation, pledged a thorough investigation. “We are going to do our due diligence to try and find out who did this,” he said.
Chief Patrick is working closely with Major McKenzie Patrick, with additional support from the Newton County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
Newton Mayor Antonio Hoye expressed the community’s resolve to address the crime. “It’s imperative that this case is investigated thoroughly,” Mayor Hoye said. “I just want to let everybody know that we will not tolerate this and we ask for everybody’s help in solving this case.”
