There are good jobs in Clarksdale for those who want them.
Image Industry and SafTCart hosted students from two local schools on Manufacturing Day last week with 6th graders from Presbyterian Day School and Clarksdale Collegiate Charter School touring the facilities.
“I like math and measuring pipe and bending it looks like it needs math,” said Charter School student Derran Mitchell, 11 as he toured SafTCart. “I also liked watching them weld.”
Karli Matthews, 11, of PDS said she wanted to be an engineer.
“Someone has to design all this stuff,” said Matthews. “The office jobs always pay the best.”
Both school brought about 38 kids for the tour.
“We need more than welders and fabricators,” said Any Ellis of SafTCart. “We need stockers, people in logistics and of course people in the front office. These are good paying jobs and pay $40,000 to people who will work.”
SafTCart employs about 80 people and Image Industries employs roughly 50 men and women.
