Lee Academy’s baseball team is 2-0 in district play after sweeping a doubleheader at North Delta School Monday.
The Colts, 6-5 on the season, won the second game 12-0.
Graydon Gullick pitched a complete game shutout giving up just two hits while recording 11 strikeouts for the win.
The Colts got things going in the first inning scoring on an error.
Lee put up five runs in the sixth inning. James Chicorelli, Gullick, Russell Cook, and Ethan Peyton each had RBIs during the inning.
The Colts racked up ten hits on the day. Andrew Williamson and Cook each managed multiple hits for Lee. Cook and Williamson each collected two hits to lead the Colts.
Lee won the first game of the doubleheader 14-5.
Tanner Fava drove in four runs on three hits for the Colts.
Fava drove in runs on a single in the fourth and a single in the sixth.
The Colts got on the board in the first inning when an error scored one run.
Lee notched five runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Williamson and Fava and by Cook and Jackson Spinks.
Ryan Mooney took the win for Lee. The pitcher lasted four and a third innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out seven. William Walker threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Lee totaled 11 hits. Gullick, Fava, and Williamson all collected multiple hits for the Colts. Fava and Gullick each collected three hits to lead Lee. The Colts stole 13 bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Gullick led the way with four.
Lee lost 4-3 at home in a non-district game to Tunica Academy on Saturday.
Despite a four-run deficit in the seventh inning, the Colts almost came back. Lee scored two runs on a single in the seventh inning.
The Colts outhit Tunica Academy 6-4.
Lee scored three runs in the seventh inning. Russell Cook had an RBI single in the inning to lead the run scoring.
O Sanders led the Tunica Academy to victory on the mound. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out eight.
Cook took the loss for Lee. The righthander went four innings, allowing one run on three hits and walking zero.
Cook led the Colts with three hits in four at bats.
