Dear Editor,
I totally concur with Hartley Kittle on the physical state of Clarksdale.
Before my retirement, I home visited all over the city and county. The scope and rapidity of the deterioration is shocking. Even five years ago, my street, West Second, still looked fairly presentable.
I hate to rub salt on the wound, but people from out of town are noticing
I subscribe to several out of town Delta newspapers. At one town’s city board meeting, a councilman said , “We don’t want to look like Clarksdale!” At a discussion reported in in another town’s newspaper, a person was quoted in the newspaper saying, “We don’t want to be like Clarksdale!”
There is no excuse for this, none.
Whatever, Mr. Kittle suggests, I am on board. We must unite and clean up this town from one end to the other and KEEP it clean.
I have many ideas. Let’s get going Clarksdale!
Sincerely,
Gussie Farris,
Clarksdale, Miss.
