Studying the first few chapters of the book of Genesis is a real eye opener for anyone that understands God is in control of everything.
He formed a perfect world and then formed man. God then planted the Garden of Eden and put man, whom He named Adam, in charge of it with all the amenities and food he would ever need.
God only had one stipulation for man and that was for him not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Then God decided that man should not be alone and created all of the animals of the earth and then gave man a woman to be with him. God also put the serpent in the garden and allowed him to temp man and woman into doing something God had forbidden them to do. They ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil and their eyes were opened to the world. Their destiny changed from living a perfect life in the garden to the sin of the world with death as its reward. We are told in Genesis chapter 3 that Adam called his wife Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
Reading further into the book of Genesis, we see that the descendants of Adam and Eve became so wicked and corrupt that God was sorry that He made man on the earth and this grieved His heart. God was so displeased with man that He decided to destroy both man and beast and wipe them off the face of the earth with a flood. Only one man pleased God and that was Noah.
Noah was told to build and ark with explicit instructions of how and what to do. As Noah was building the ark he witnessed to the people around him of the coming destruction of the Lord and asked them to repent of their sins and come on board with him. No one, with exception of Noah’s immediate family, was allowed on the ark because of their sin and worldly views.
In today’s world aren’t we committing the same sins of deception, immorality, unfaithfulness and unrepentance that the people of Noah’s day committed? We are no different from them however we do have a Savior that we can go to and ask for forgiveness.
Jesus died on the cross for us and gave us the opportunity of leaving a dying world to a home in eternity with Him.
God promised that He would never destroy the world again with a flood, however He also said that those who reject Him would suffer in the lake of fire.
Have you examined your heart today to see if you could have been one to get on the ark with Noah? If not then you are living a life in sin and your only salvation is through Jesus Christ. Ask Him into your heart today see your eternal future with Him.
