Coahoma County School District (CCSD) will host “In The Fight Against Cancer,” an awareness walk aimed at raising awareness and funds for Coahoma County residents fighting cancer, at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
“The CCSD Cancer Awareness Walk is a testament of our commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those affected by cancer,” said CCSD Superintendent Dr. Virginia Young,”
Students, parents, and community members are invited to participate and show their solidarity by wearing pink and/or camouflage.
Contributions from parents and community members, of any amount, will be accepted at the school secretaries' offices or at the front desk of the central office. All funds go to supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which provides cutting-edge research, innovative treatment, and compassionate care for those suffering from childhood cancer without charging families for treatment.
"Our goal is to not only raise awareness but also to foster a sense of community and support for this important cause," Young said.
The walk will begin in the West Gate Parking Lot, Clarksdale, Mississippi, and proceed toward Coahoma County Jr/Sr. High School.
The CCSD Cancer Awareness Walk serves as a platform where individuals can come together, share their stories, and express their support. The public is invited to attend and all funds help local children fighting cancer.
