In Loving Memory of Shirley Crawford Jones
Shirley Crawford Jones, born on March 20, 1935, in Coldwater, Miss., peacefully passed away on Jan. 27, 2024.
Shirley graduated from Tunica High School in 1953 and continued her education at Northwest Junior College, earning an Associate Degree in Education in May 1955.
On April 18, 1957, Shirley married the love of her life, George Robert (Bob) Jones Jr. Their beautiful marriage of 67 years became a testament to enduring love and commitment. Together, they built a lovely family, raising daughters Lorna (Ricky) Roland, Janis (Richard) Powell, Wendy (Bryan) Ray, and Julia (Rod) Ray.
They were blessed with a host of grandchildren: Ann Clark (Russell) Elmore, Clay Roland, Rainer (Lindsey) Powell, Aubrey (Tom) McKee, Brent (Tori) Powell, Boyce Powell, Chandler Powell, Peyton (Kelsey) Overstreet, Bryan Ray, Evelyn Ray, Jones Ray, Parker Ray, as well as great-grandchildren: Ford, Louise, and George Elmore; Alice, Mitch, and Palmer Powell; Greenie, Georgia, Booth, and Boyce McKee; Harper, Finn, and Beck Powell; and Sunni Overstreet.
Shirley is also survived by Janis Crawford (Richard) Leake, her sister and dear friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Aubrey Crawford and Hazel Evelyn Sinquefield Crawford, her brother John Dale Crawford, sisters Margaret Crawford York and Caroline Crawford, grandson Clay Roland, and great-granddaughter Finn Powell.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024 at Clarksdale Methodist Church, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
