The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in Coahoma County that left a woman dead Monday afternoon and involved a local Mississippi lawmaker.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol has reported a 52-year-old woman was attempting to cross U.S. Highway 61 on foot, when she was struck by a vehicle traveling south.
The woman has been identified as Amy R. Stanberry, of Brookland, Ark.
The 2021 Lexus LS that struck her was driven by Coahoma County State Representative Orlando Paden and was southbound on the highway.
MHP says Stanberry was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident was north of Clarksdale and blocked traffic for more than an hour as first responders worked the incident.
A second vehicle may have been involved in the accident.

This crash is still under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
