Elouise Yeats Stringer, 95, of Clarksdale died June 19, 2021, at Germantown Methodist Hospital, Germantown, Tenn.
Elouise was born on May 9, 1926, in Murphy to Robert Ben Yeats and Sallie Bowen Yeats. She was raised and educated in Monroe, La. She began her career with Bellsouth in Monroe and worked there for many years prior to marrying and starting a family.
On January 20, 1950, Elouise married the love of her life, the late Wilbur Ray Stringer. In 1954, they moved to Houston, Texas, where they had two sons, Gary and Greg. The family later moved to Chicago, Ill., and then to Dallas, Texas.
In 1983, Elouise and Wilbur moved to Clarksdale to open an International Harvester dealership. Elouise volunteered for many years at the local hospital gift shop. She and Wilbur enjoyed traveling and created fond memories with their friends and family. Following Wilbur’s retirement in 2003, Elouise and Wilbur lived in South Carolina until 2008 and then in Germantown, Tenn.
Elouise was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, her parents, eight siblings, George Yeats, Lilla Waters, Lois Yeats, Ethel Day, Lea Cooper, Liza Yeats, L.J. Yeats, and Otha Yeats, and her sister-in-law, Christine Howard.
Elouise is survived by her sons, Gary Stewart Stringer (Carolyn) of Clarksdale and Gregory Ray Stringer (Susan) of Divide, Colorado, two grandchildren, John Stewart Stringer of Jackson, and Kristen Stringer Webb (Craig) of Nashville, Tenn., a great granddaughter, Bowen Pearce Webb of Nashville, Tenn., and many loving nieces and nephews.
A private burial will take place in Jackson Parish, La. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
