Reyes Ruiz, Jr., 76, of Clarksdale died June 12, 2021, at his home. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale. Funeral services are 11 a,m. Friday, June 18, 2021 at Meredith-Nowell Chapel in Clarksdale with burial in the Shelby Cemetery in Shelby. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Ruiz enjoyed fishing, hunting, cowboy shows, gardening, dancing, playing bingo and going to the casino. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shelby.
Survivors include his sons Reyes Ruiz III (Dori Ann) of Marianna, Fla., Ophelio Ruiz of Spartsburg, S.C. and Martin Ruiz (Judy) of Clarksdale; daughters Christean Lopez (Rafael) and Rosa Linda Lopez (Jose) of Clarksdale; brothers Santo Ruiz and Benito Ruiz of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sister Tavana Caudillo of Boykin Beach, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Emma Garcia Ruiz; parents Reyes Ruiz, Sr. and Beatrice Luna Ruiz and daughter Mary Lou Nava.
