Senator Robert L. Jackson was appointed to the Energy and Environment Committee of the Southern Legislative Conference of The Council of State Governments.
The appointment by Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann and President Pro Tempore Senator Dean Kirby, positions Senator Jackson to learn of national trends and share with others how Mississippi lawmakers approaches similar issues.
Senator Jackson is Chairman of the Senate Executive Contingent Fund, Vice Chairman of the Enrolled Bills Committee and a member of the Energy Committee and Appropriations Committee among other assignments.
Robert Jackson, a Democrat is a member of the Mississippi State Senate, representing District 11. He assumed office in 2004. His current term ends on January 2, 2024.
Jackson ran for re-election to the Mississippi State Senate to represent District 11. He won in the general election on Nov. 5, 2019, by defeating Independent candidate Clara Dawkins with 73.8 percent of the vote. He defeated Kimberly Seals in the Democratic Primary in August with 54.9 percent of the vote.
Jackson attended Northwest Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi.
His professional experience includes working as a community development practitioner.
