Former Coahoma County Jr./Sr. High School principal Cortney Jackson has applied to work for the Helena-West Helena School District in Helena-West Helena, Ark.
Jackson is one of eight applicants for the grades 7 through 12 academic success coach position in the Helena-West Helena School District.
Jackson announced her resignation from the Coahoma County School District within the past couple of weeks. She is one of two principals in the CCSD who left their position during the 2021-22 school year. Latiffney Percy is currently not in the building as the Lyon Elementary School principal.
The Press Register attended the August 30 special called Helena-West Helena School Board meeting after Jackson's resignation from the CCSD. Four personnel recommendations were on the list. Jackson or the academic success coach position were not on the list of personnel recommendations.
The Press Register filed an Arkansas Freedom of Information Act request to the Helena-West Helena School District inquiring about Jackson's application for the academic success coach position. The Helena-West Helena School District replied saying requests must come from those who live in the state of Arkansas.
However, The Helena World in Helena-West Helena, Ark. submitted an Arkansas Freedom of Information Act request to the Helena-West Helena School District and provided the findings to the Press Register. Those findings showed Jackson was one of eight applicants for the grades 7 through 12 academic success coach position in the Helena-West Helena School District.
The Helena-West Helena School Board's next meeting is 6 p.m. Monday in the new Central High School auditorium at 103 School Rd.
