Margaret Herber LaBouve, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, left this earth at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, to be with God and her Savior Jesus, on August 30, 2023, after a brief illness at the age of 92 years.
Born and raised in the small town of Orscholz, Germany, she married John LaBouve, emigrating with him and their then young twin children, to America in 1954. The family settled in Clarksdale in 1956 and raised two more children. Although they divorced, Margaret never remarried and remained in Clarksdale till her passing.
She was known to many, especially her grandkids and great grands, as Oma, German for grandmother. She is remembered by her family and many friends and is a long-time member of the Clarksdale Baptist Church. She loved Jesus with all her heart and had a deep and abiding faith in Christianity.
She is predeceased by her parents Maria and Josef Herber, brother Karl, and sister Marianne, all in Germany, and also by her recently deceased granddaughter Candace LaBouve. She leaves behind her four children: her daughter Chris (Carlos) Sanchez of Fleming Island, Fla., her son Johnny (Peggy) LaBouve of Brandon, her daughter Jane (Phil) Addison of Enterprise, Fla., and son Mark LaBouve; her grandchildren: Brian Rauch, Meg (Herb) Robertson, Farrin (Brad) Schetter, Brooke (Hunter) Manning, David (Sarah Beth) LaBouve, Nick (Lisa) LaBouve, as well as numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home, where visitation was Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, from 1 to 2 p.m., then a brief service in their chapel by Brother David Mancill, pastor of Clarksdale Baptist Church. Burial followed at Memorial Gardens. Family and friends were sincerely welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in her name to Sanctuary Hospice House, 5159 West Main Street, Tupelo, MS 38803
