Mary Clark Harris Jones, born March 11, 1930, in Clarksdale, daughter of Garry E. Harris and Emma Clark Tuttle, went home to heaven February 8, 2025, to be with her Lord and Savior.
She graduated from Lula-Rich High School. Following graduation, she attended and played women’s basketball at Delta State University before marrying Truitt Jones.
For many years they lived in Gunnison, Miss., and then moved to Clarksdale. Mary Clark was very involved in the community including, Clarksdale Garden Club, Home Demonstration Club, Coahoma Women’s Club and Clarksdale Women’s Club.
After her three oldest children were in college, she went back to college attending Coahoma Community College and received her LPN license.
She attended Oakhurst Baptist Church and without reservation she would say she was most impacted in her life by Precepts Bible Study and her involvement of many years with Community Bible Study where she was privileged to serve as a group leader.
Even though Mary Clark was very involved in the community, her primary love in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was hardworking, loyal, selfless and kind-spirited—an amazing example of sacrificial love. She was deeply loved by all her family and blessed to share 13 years of her life living with her daughter and son-in-law, Tracye and Scott Keenum. Her last two years she spent in Starkville, MS, living with her son and daughter-in-law, Garry and Rhonda Jones.
Mary Clark was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers and sister, Jimmy Harris, Tom Harris, Billy Harris, and Ann Bass; her husband, Truitt Jones and her grandchildren, Jeff Seymour, and Rebecca Jones.
Mary Clark is survived by her four children: David Jones (Rosalind) of Laurel, Miss., Garry Jones (Rhonda) of Starkville, Miss., Kathy Seymour (Dick) of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Tracye Keenum (Scott) of Hernando, Miss; and eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
In memory of Mary Clark, the family requests, in lieu of flowers donations be made to Clarity Ministries International, 8805 April Breeze Court, Fort Worth, TX 76120, or a ministry or charity of your choice.
