The Lee Academy boys baseball team opened the season with a 4-1 victory at Choctaw County Tuesday.
Ryan Mooney was the winning pitcher for Lee Academy Colts Varsity. The righty went four innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out seven. Russell Cook and Graydon Gullick entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
The Colts got things moving in the first inning. Choctaw's Justin Jenkins threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Lee.
Jenkins took the loss for Choctaw County. Jenkins allowed zero hits and two runs over three and a third innings, striking out nine.
Mooney led Lee with one run batted in. Mooney went 0-for-3 on the day. Lee stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Cook led the way with two.
Jenkins led Choctaw County with two hits in three at bats.
James Chicorelli walked twice and scored one run for the Colts, Aidan Byrd walked and scored a run, Cook scored one run, and Gullick walked and scored a run.
Jackson Spinks and Sam Stonestreet also walked for Lee.
The Colts are scheduled to play in a tournament in Starkville Friday and Saturday.
They are scheduled to play their home opener against Heritage Academy Tuesday.
