The Clarksdale Police Department is investigating two separate shooting and the burglary of a shed and is asking for the public’s help in solving these cases and stopping the violence.
Clarksdale Assistant Chief Vince Ramirez has asked anyone with information about these incidents to call the Clarksdale Police Department at 621-8156, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or simply dial 911.
All calls remain anonymous and cash is paid to those providing information that leads to solving a crime.
Aggravated Assault
Police were called to the 500 Block of McKinley Avenue at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on a report of some having been shot.
When police arrived at the scene they were told by two victims that they were walking in the area when a man approached and asked them where they were from. The two men told police that for no reason the man started shooting at the victims who attempted to flee.
One victim was hit by a bullet in his right ankle and the other victim was in on the right side of his body.
Police did not give the names of those shot or the name of a possible suspect and no arrest was reported. This incident is under investigation by the Clarksdale Police Department.
Both people shot were transported to Memphis Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
Car shot
Police were called to the 1500 block of North State Street about 9:40 a.m. Tuesday after a woman said another woman shot her car.
Police reports said the complainant said a female followed her from her resident and while driving down the street her car was fired upon by the following car.
Police reports indicate a bullet apparently hit the rear of the complaint’s car but no one was injured. The victim told police she has been harassed by the suspect.
Police said an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect.
Burglary of shed
Police were called at 7:59 a.m. Monday by a man who said the shed at the back of his residence had been entered and a weed-eater, blower and chainsaw were taken.
Police did not give the location of the incident.
Police did say they observed no forced entrance and the victim could not provide serial numbers or the brand names of the missing items.
