Nettie "Nell" Weatherspoon, 86, of Clarksdale passed away Tuesday Dec. 22, 2020 at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Nettie was born Sept. 14, 1934 to James Weatherspoon and Elnora Robinson.
Nettie was known for her sense of humor and was loved dearly by her family and those she came in contact with.
Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2021 from followed by a family hour from 4 to 6 p.m. A graveside memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021 at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 1-99 Harry Black Road, Clarksdale, MS 38614. The Rev. Samuel Sculark will be officiating.
Nettie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Elnora and James Weatherspoon Sr. and four children Alice Weatherspoon, Willie “Pete” Weatherspoon, Andrew Reggans, Nelson Weatherspoon; one sister Catherine Weatherspoon.

Sims-Clarksdale, Dorothy (Roy) Woods-Dallas, Texas, Lula (Percy) Perry-Clarksdale, Terrie (Jeffery) Lofton-Clarksdale , Debra (Trin) Babers-Plano, Texas , Anthony (Jacqueline) Weatherspoon- Clarksdale , Sharron (Glenn) Matthews-Garland, Texas , Darrell Weatherspoon-Clarksdale , Doris Weatherspoon-Richardson, Texas, Janice (Tony) Smith-Dallas, Texas, Terrial Weatherspoon-Galveston, Texas , Patrick Weatherspoon-Clarksdale, Derick Weatherspoon-Houston, Texas and their siblings, Georgia Starks, Edward (Theresa) Starks of Clarksdale, and Sandra Starks, Tameka Woodfork of Southaven; one sister Willie Mae Larry; three brothers Charlie Weatherspoon, Johnny Weatherspoon, James Weatherspoon Jr; sixty-three grandchildren, eighty-seven great-grandchildren, twelve great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.
