The Nation's Weather for Tuesday, July 12, 2022
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As high pressure at multiple levels of the atmosphere
strengthens, so will a massive heat wave over the interior
West. Some desert cities will top 110. Only spotty late-day
thunderstorms are likely in Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and
Colorado. A push of slightly cooler and less humid air will
settle over the Midwest. Along the leading edge of this air,
thunderstorms have the potential to become severe from Maine
to Tennessee. All forms of severe weather ranging from high
winds and hail to tornadoes could occur in the strongest
storms. Meanwhile, as heat will continue to sear Texas and
the southern Plains, showers and thunderstorms are forecast
to frequent the Southeast to the point of leading to flash
flooding, let alone drought relieve. A tropical system may
brew near the northern Gulf coast later this week.
