The Nation's Weather for Saturday, September 3, 2022
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Persistent downpours will continue to raise the risk of
flooding along the Gulf Coast from Texas to the Florida
Panhandle tomorrow. The flooding threat may be highest in
parts of Texas and western Louisiana, where locally heavy
rain has fallen over the past several days. Farther north,
spottier thunderstorms are expected in the Tennessee Valley
and in the vicinity of the Great Lakes. The recent heat will
ease in the Pacific Northwest. A few afternoon
thundershowers are possible over northeastern portions of
Washington and Oregon, but they may produce more in the way
of lightning and gusty winds than rain. Meanwhile, the heat
will intensify in the northern Rockies. Elsewhere, the
valleys and deserts of California will remain in the
grips of a heat wave; more record highs are likely.
