The Nation's Weather for Saturday, January 8, 2022
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Moisture returning north from the Gulf of Mexico will bring
thunderstorms to eastern Texas and western Louisiana
tomorrow. Overnight, some thunderstorms could be locally
strong. Showers will dampen eastern Oklahoma and much of
Missouri, with a steadier rain in far southern Illinois,
western Kentucky and much of Arkansas. Farther north,
freezing rain could make for slippery travel in northern and
central portions of Illinois and Indiana and into
northeastern Missouri. Even though temperatures are expected
to be above freezing in central Missouri and southern
Illinois and Indiana, the preceding cold conditions could
cause the rain to freeze on some surfaces. The West will be
largely quiet for a change, with just a few snow showers in
the Washington Cascades and Rockies.
