The Mississippi Department of Corrections issued an arrest warrant for a 25-year-old man after a traffic stop in Clarksdale on Thursday afternoon, March 7.
The DOC issued a warrant for the arrest of Demarco Brown for a probation violation on Thursday.
At around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, officers with the Clarksdale Police Department made a traffic stop in the 800 block of Cherry Street. During the stop, Brown was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and issued several traffic citations.
Brown appeared Thursday afternoon in Clarksdale Municipal Court where Judge Derek Hopson denied Brown’s request for bond.
Brown is currently being held in the Coahoma County Jail awaiting action by the next meeting of the Coahoma County Grand Jury.
