Grand jury notes repairs needed at county jail, courthouse
In a related note, the grand jury made an inspection of the Coahoma County Jail and noted the following issues: broken bricks near the front entry door, missing light assembly unit and exposed wires near the front entrance, water stains on the ceiling throughout the jail, and foundation problems, including busted flooring in one of the cells.
They also mentioned cracks in walls throughout and said all of the jail cells and floors should be repainted.
In looking at the courthouse, the grand jury report noted a number of blown lights that should be addressed, as well as moisture accumulation in the front windows of the courthouse, black stains in a men’s restroom and an unsecured audio box in the large courtroom.
There was also a note about a “filthy” water cooler in the jury room that needs to be cleaned and chairs in the jury box need extensive cleaning.
