To the Editor:
Led by our city’s chaplain, pastor John Givens, in the heritage of the Israelites and their march around the city of Jericho, the City of Clarksdale is planning a symbolic walk of faith on Saturday, May 4, 2019, entitled “The Jericho Walk,” to encircle our city in prayer.
We are trusting God to take down the walls that separate us from the peace and prosperity that is ours as a City of God.
We are beginning our prayerful preparation for Jericho Week (April 28-May 4,2019) on Jan. 31, 2019, by focusing on praying for our city’s policemen and firemen. The police and fire departments will begin their day in collective prayer at 8 a.m. with a prayer breakfast in their honor hosted by Yazoo Pass.
We ask that you also join us in prayer throughout the day Jan. 31 for the protection of our police and firemen as they serve and protect our city.
We also ask that you make a commitment to continue to pray with us Thursdays at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. for peace and prosperity in our city.
Thank you to the citizens of Clarksdale for your valuable presence in Clarksdale and your valiant prayer in making Clarksdale a better place to live.
Truly yours for Clarksdale.
Chuck Espy
Mayor of Clarksdale
