It was announced during Monday’s Coahoma County Board of Supervisors meeting that the value of real property is available for assessment at the Coahoma County Courthouse.
“There’s a continuing process of assessing the value of real property at people’s houses and cars are all tax stamped,” county attorney Tom Ross said. “The assessor has to bring in the rolls of what the assessment is. Now the rolls are open and anybody can come in and look and see what their house value is, if they’ve gone up or down. If they disagree with it, they can file an objection with the board.”
Ross said the county is required by law to put an ad in the paper about it.
“The assessment roles are in the chancery clerk’s (Carolyn Parham) office and you’re encouraged to go look at the value of your property,” Ross said.
