Annie Mae Ainsworth, 91, of Lyon and retired from Village Grocery, died Dec. 24, 2019. Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019 at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Meredith-Nowell Chapel in Clarksdale with burial in the Memorial Gardens. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS is handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Ainsworth was born in Kennedy, AL on March 27, 1928. She resided in Lyon. Along with retiring from Village Grocery, she worked with Clarksdale Baptist bus ministry. She worked with children in ministry for 32 years ranging from nursery to seniors. She was a mother to many and known to all as "Aunt Mae." She loved and helped raise many as her own, providing food, clothing and shelter to any in need. Most of all she loved and served the Lord. She will be greatly missed and the love she gave will never be forgotten.
Survivors include her sister-in-law Inez Havens and brother-in-law W.C. Ainsworth; nieces and nephews Ann and Emmett Jones, Rodger and Melissa Havens, David and Lori Havens, Brenda and Ronnie Havens, Billy and Ann Ainsworth, David and Brenda High, Joe High, Linda and Harrel Spell, Lynn Bamburg, Henry and Carol Pate, Freddie and Leisa Pate, Wade and Sue Henry, Jim and Diane Tyson, Bob Tyson, Douglas Tyson and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Lloyd Ainsworth; father Harvey Pate; birth mother Nollie Thrasher; "The mama that raised me" Lorean Hannah Pate; brother James Pate; sisters Mary Tyson, Clara Hawkins and Nettie Arceneaux; nephews George Pate and James Junior Pate and niece Sandra Jones.
