Charles Milton Lowe, 83, formerly of Clarksdale, MS, moved to Merigold in 1973. He passed away in Cleveland on Sept. 14, 2019, at Bolivar Medical Center.
Visitation was from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at Ray Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service followed beginning at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at Ray Funeral Home with Brother J.B. Hays officiating. Interment was in North Cleveland Cemetery.
Milton was born on Jan. 12, 1936, to Royce and Waudene Lowe in Clarksdale. He graduated from Clarksdale High School in 1954. He attended Memphis State and the University of Southern Mississippi. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. During his service, he played in the army band as a talented trumpet player. Milton was also a senior trumpet player at Delta State University, from which he graduated in 1962. On August 26, 1962, he married Mildred Joann Andrews in Clarksdale. When able, Milton walked his dogs faithfully every day.
He took up for his family when they got into trouble (not to there making). He followed his wife to work everyday for protection. He would also have lunch with her every day and make a third trip to see her when she got off work. He was a good husband and a good man to many.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Royce and Waudene Lowe.
Milton is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Lowe of Cleveland; sons, Steven Deveer Lowe of Snow Hill, N.C., Bruce Alan Lowe of Cleveland, and Chuck Lowe of Starkville; sister, Sandy Lowe Bell of Starkville; sister-in-law, Betty Wilson of California; and close friend, Sally Miles of Ruleville.
