Mollie McCaleb Currie was born June 18, 1928 in Biloxi, Mississippi and died Aug. 7, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Portland, Oregon. She was predeceased by her husband Barton Currie, mother Myrtle Fairley McCaleb, father Lorenzo McCaleb, sisters Doris McCaleb and Laura McGee. Remembered and loved by her children Anne (Dave Verhoeven and Loren Leed), Bill (Debbie Osborn Currie) and Bart Currie; grandchildren Andrew and Rebecca Verhoeven, Caleb (Megan) and Jesse Currie and great grandchildren Autumn and Gemma Currie.
During her life she moved all over the country, but lived most of her life in her beloved Lake Oswego, OR. She worked until age 70 at United Sales Associates, was appointed by three Governors to serve on the State of Oregon Trails Council, was involved in Girl Scouts for many years as a leader and organizer of Day Camp, and she backpacked every summer she could from 1968-2009. Mollie was an amazing woman and will be missed by her family and friends. We loved her and she loved her family more than anything.
There will be no service at Mollie’s request. Mom loved genealogy and if you would like to do something in her memory, make a donation to the Genealogical Forum of Oregon. (GFO.org)
