Molly Jane Tolar Franks, 67, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2019 in Clarksdale. Born on Aug. 3, 1952 in Clarksdale, she was the daughter of the late Sam V. Tolar, Sr. and Bernice Rowland Tolar.
Mrs. Franks graduated from Clarksdale High School and Delta State College. She served in the Army for six years, achieving the rank of Captain.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Lanell Tolar Otwell and her brother Sam V. Tolar, Jr. and a step daughter Amelia Franks.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Franks, her son Jef Shields of Little Rock, Ark.; a sister Linda Tolar Cox (Gerry) of Sumter, S.C.; a brother Stanley Tolar; a stepson Robert Franks of Oxford; a stepdaughter Jennifer Miller of Southaven and grandchildren Rilan Shields and Paxton Shields.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meredith-Nowell Chapel in Clarksdale with burial in Memorial Gardens. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is in charge of arrangements.
