Nellie Ann Ellington, 65, a School Teacher, died Jan. 13, 2020 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020 at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Cleveland. Funeral mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Cleveland with burial in the Shelby Cemetery in Shelby. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Ellington spent her entire career in education at West Tallahatchie School District for 28 years teaching both young and old. She spent four years traveling as an educational consultant with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. The last five years she has spent at Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility (Core Civic) in Tutwiler.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years David Ellington; son Chad Ellington of Webb; daughter Dr. Natalie Ellington of Tampa, Fla.; brother John Duraj (Linda) of Shelby and sisters Maria Johnson (Bruce) of Shelby, Zofia Lindsey (Don) of Cleveland and Theresa Balducci of Shelby.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Nellie Dzuria Duraj.
