Sidney L. Avant, Sr., 85, of Batesville retired from Mid State Paving, died Oct. 17, 2019 at home. Visitation is 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday Oct. 20, 2019 at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Monday Oct. 21, 2019 at Meredith-Nowell Chapel in Clarksdale with burial in the Memorial Gardens. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include sons Sidney L. Avant, Jr. (Kappy) and David Coleman of Batesville; daughters Jeannie Hudgins of Batesville and Joy Parker Hudson (Mike) of Walnut; sister Judy Adams of Clarksdale; grandchildren Buffy Hudgins, Sidney L. Avant, III "Bubba", Tatum Dillon Severino, Rebecca Mikki Dillon; great-grandchildren Gaige Hudgins, Hunter Carter, Jac Chrestman, Dillon Severino, Charlotte Severino, Ryan Gordon and great-great grandson Christopher Hudgins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lottie Jaco Avant and parents Homer and Eula Faye Bridwel Avant.
