William Hunter Rutland, 88, a gin man and farmer, died April 27, 2019 at his home. Visitation is Monday, April 29, 2019, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Riverside Baptist Church in Clarksdale. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2019 at Riverside Baptist Church in Clarksdale. Another service will be at Providence Baptist Church, 75 Providence Rd in Jayess on Tuesday, Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. with the service starting at 2 p.m. with burial at Providence Baptist Church in Jayess. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is handling the arrangements.
Rutland was US Air Force Korean War veteran and Member of Shrine #286. He also served on the Cliff Finch Governors Staff.
Survivors include: wife Bernice Rutland of Lula, MS. 3 sisters Louise Sauls of Jackson, Joann Rogers of Brookhaven and Gwen Kyzar of Hattiesburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse J and Minnie Givens Rutland.
