The city of Clarksdale recently recognized its Employee of the Month and also named its Yards of the Month.
Lynn Logan, an employee in the city court clerk’s office, was named as the March Employee of the Month. The award was announced the Clarksdale Board of Mayor and Commissioners meeting held Monday, March 11.
Logan is “both dedicated and conscientious,” said a press release from the city. “She takes ownership of projects assigned to her and ensures that they are completed with the highest level of competency.”
Logan was also recognized for her work in responding to Clarksdale citizens who have been taking advantage of the amnesty notice to resolve fines and reinstate driver’s licenses.
Also during the March 11 meeting, the Yards of the Month were named.
Selected as the top yard in Ward 1 was Janie and Don Hite’s home at 740 Maple Ave.; the Ward 2 winner was Sissy Moore’s home at 1206 Riverside Ave.; the Ward 3 winner was Alean Smith’s home at 1827 Sunflower Ave.; and the Ward 4 winner was the home of Joseph and Claudia Gooden at 1408 Farris St.
The Yard of the Month was selected by the Clarksdale Beautification Committee.
In choosing the Yard of the Month, the committee looks for homes that have neatly cut grass, neatly trimmed hedges; properly bagged leaves; trash bins removed from the front of the home by the end of garbage day consistently; and no obstructions to the view of the yard and home.
