The Clarksdale Public Utilities board approved a $500 sponsorship for Coahoma Opportunities Inc.’s “A Taste of Clarksdale.”
“A Taste of Clarksdale” will be held to be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12 at the Clarksdale Civic Auditorium, where people will be able to purchase tickets and get food at different stations.
Tickets will also be sold to CPU employees who choose to purchase them.
The $500 was the same amount the utility company gave when it sponsored the Clarksdale Film Festival.
Senior accountant Sheila Profit provided a breakdown of the finances in the month of February.
Profit said the operating cash total was $1,381,121.01, the restricted cash total was $1,299,062.22, and the reserved cash total was $3,339,392. That led to a grand total of $6,019,575.85.
In a breakdown of how CPU received payments during the month of February, CPU received $277,228.09 through its website.
A total of $57.385.10 came through check activity, $63,101.47 was through credit card activity and $156,741.52 was through bank drafts.
A total of $25,147.80 came through kiosk payments. The kiosk is outside of CPU’s facility. Cash payments in the kiosk were $10,634 and credit card payments were $14,513.80.
The board approved a $1,300 payment to BKD CPAs & Advisors for work done to date. BKD withdrew from a rate study in late 2018, but the $1,300 was for work done prior to the withdrawal.
The board also approved CPU employee Dylan Doss attending the Apprentice CT/PT metering and advanced grounding training in Paragould, Ark., on April 16-17.
